The HRI U-Series ROVs
Combining long-range, speed and intervention capabilities with a substantial payload, the U-series ROVs are ideal for inspection, repair and maintenance applications, scientific work, and search and retrieval.
The first vehicle in HRI’s U series, the U-11000 is optimal for intervention and survey applications which benefit from the range capabilities enabled by HRI’s SpiderOptic™ tether deployment technology. It is outfitted with strong manipulators to perform work and operate a wide range of tools.
Some of the target applications for the U-11000 include:
- Inspection, maintenance and repair – the vehicle can be launched from a ship, shore, or an ocean platform to perform a range of visual inspection and maintenance tasks, including cleaning, valve testing, and corrosion testing, along long distances such as pipelines or telecommunications cables. Markets for such tasks include oil & gas, telecommunications cable, and alternative offshore energy.
- Survey and sampling – the vehicle can be used for long-range survey and sampling missions charting different measurements obtained by sensor equipment and sampling carried by the vehicle. Markets for such work include scientific research, oceanography, oil & gas, mining, and marine archaeology.
- Payload deployment – the vehicle can be used to deploy instruments and other payloads over a long range. Markets for this work include military applications and scientific research.
- Object location – the vehicle can be used to locate objects over large areas, such as an airplane black box, a downed ship, or tools and equipment. Once an object is found, the vehicle can directly retrieve it or attach a lift line deployed from the surface.
The U-11000 will be available in early Q2, 2011. The vehicle can be configured for a range of depths including full ocean depth (11000m).
